Foggy Morning

Thursday morning was quite foggy and I took this photo from our second floor balcony. Sharp eyes among you may notice the photo is similar to but different from others I've posted; the difference is that the owner of the trees had two of the three tallest ones cut down. I was very sad but they said the trees overhung their pool creating shade and dropping needles in the pool.

Bark

I am always fascinated by the bark patterns on eucalyptus trees. This one is by the Visitor Center at Fort Cronkhite in the Marin Headlands.

Trees

There was dense grove of trees by Bahia Ensenada.

Cemetery trees

The Punta Arenas (Chile) Cemetery is filled with these beautifully-kept, wonderfully-green trees, probably a type of cypress. Tomorrow - more about the cemetery.

Early morning fog

Trees

I didn't look straight up to take this photo; I looked (almost) straight down into a puddle on Bear Valley Trail. You can see the edges of the puddle in the upper right and lower right of the picture.

This is same puddle in which I took Bob's picture for yesterday. I turned it upside down to look as if he had no feet. My favorite comment - Susan M. said, Perhaps he was a politician who was defeated?

Three trees

In Master Gardener Katie's yard are three very different trees: in front, the bare tree is a gingko, the red one is a liquidambar still holding onto its leaves, and the semi-bare one in the back is a valley oak. All three are deciduous but their timing is obviously different, as are their colors. The gingko turns yellow before the leaves fall, the liquidambar red through yellow and the valley oak just turns brown.

Tree tire

I wonder what the story is here, don't you? All I can say is - I know that tire is durable and isn't going to degrade any time soon because it's already been there a long time; the tree is no sapling!

The tree and its tire are along the Corte Madera Creek bike path near the Buddha(s). That's the creek in the background.

New tree

The spirit of plants is indomitable! This clump of trees was roughly cut to facilitate re-construction of the Physical Education Building at the College of Marin. But - this tree hasn't given up; it's sending up a beautiful fresh shoot to create a new tree.

More Fall color

Just north of Ukiah, California is a row of trees at Parducci Winery; these trees were planted by someone who knew what he/she was doing. The colors are fantastic every autumn. This year we stopped and took some photos so you can see them too. . .
