Boxcar

I will never again say anything about South American cities having a lot of graffiti; we have plenty right here!  Most fences and buildings along the railroad right-of-way are covered as are many railcars.  Did I mention something about trespassers yesterday? . . . .

Graffiti

The water tank on the hill very near our house is covered with graffiti. What I want to know is - how? It is surrounded by a fence topped with barbed wire. And it appears that this is not an isolated incident, with designs on top of designs. I even suspect that the gray area happened when previous graffiti was painted over, just giving the 'artists' a new blank area to paint.

Decorating the decoration

Even this changing room on Copacabana Beach already decorated with the signature wavy pattern of the sidewalk isn't immune from further decoration!

Sorry about the car in the foreground but as is the case with many of my photographs, I had to catch the scene on the fly from our bus.

Decorated building

While we're on the subject of graffiti, I hope you can figure out why I'm sending you this photo.

Graffiti

I've mentioned before that South American cities seem to have a lot of graffiti, some of it very artistic. Here's one in Rio that is quite striking in just black and white.

Graffiti

Yes, lots of graffiti in Buenos Aires, most of it showing the artist's talent, if only for graphics.

Valparaiso graffiti

I know I gave you photos from the ship voyage but before we leave Valparaiso completely behind, here's one more bit of graffiti.

Graffiti in Valparaiso

Someone asked why I wasn't showing any more photos of the South American trip. There were just some photos that just couldn't wait! I intend to show the whole trip but it will be interrupted now and then with those that want to show up pronto.

Here we have some graffiti on the retaining wall of a stream that flows through Valparaiso.

Wires

How would you like to have this right outside your window? It's a common sight in Valparaiso, almost as common as graffiti.

Graffiti

It seems that every available wall in South America's larger cities is covered with graffiti, some of it more artistic than others.
